Today is National Wear Red Day as part of Go Red for Women campaign with the American Heart Association. Over 430,000 women are silenced each year by cardiovascular disease – and most of these deaths are preventable. http://www.goredforwomen.org/ February is also Heart Healthy month!
Speaking of hearts, our hearts are what keep us alive! So.....we want to keep our heart healthy in order for it to continue beating! And of course we don't want to do things that might possibly damage or hurt our hearts! Some of us are very cautious about the things we eat, the way we exercise, or the people that we let in because we are afraid of what these things will do to our hearts.
So we do these things to help protect.....
Eat Healthy
Exercise
And guard our hearts
And we do these things, because we don't want this to happen to our heart.....
As you can see, the cardiovascular system is somewhat complex.
And if something happens to our heart, it obviously affects everything that the heart deals with. We could eat all the good foods, be the fittest person alive, put up the thickest guard up around our heart, and it still not be enough protection! Sometimes we can not control the things that happen to our hearts, so don't worry about what "might" end up damaging your heart, live for what you have now!* Yes, it can be scary to take that guard down a little bit and give away pieces of your heart, but ya know what, our system doesn't always go according to the way it's planned. And that's apart of life, we live and we learn from it!
I kinda view it like falling:
When we feel like we're about fall or we're in the process of falling, we try to do things to prevent us from going down to the ground. Like holding on to something/someone, holding out our arms, or trying to regain our balance somehow. We try these preventive measures because we're afraid of what might happen at the end of the fall; getting a few scratches, being embarrassed, or breaking something! Sometimes we try to prevent these things with all of our might, only to realize that the fall was not preventable. But then we're on the ground, laughing, having fun, and realizing that the fall was not bad at all. So lets not waste our time on trying to prevent the fall, because the fall could be a good thing, and if we don't ever fall we may never get to experience the good!
A little random and confusing,
-Kara!
*Disclaimer: I still think we should eat healthy and exercise regularly. Just wanted to make that clear! :)
